OWL

A climate-focused "community knowledge" framework.

Create and share localized social, cultural and environmental knowledge as easily as you create and share media.

Draft kokomos Owl UI

As an organization, kokomos creates and supports local initiatives that seed and distribute integrated climate-focused knowledge.

We use Natural Language Processing and localized 'domain knowledge' to help individuals, professionals and communities know and respond to the impacts of climate change.

kokomos - reinforces the social processes of knowedge-exchange in the face of climate change.

Owl - is a framework anyone will be able to use to build modular, localized applications for knowlege media creation and sharing.

kokomos, our org., focuses on two things:*

1 - Foster and support knowledge media initiatives.

Create open-access, AI-assisted media and tools and provide them to schools, orgs and businesses.

  • Create, iterate and support 'Owl,' our open-access 'knowledge-media' framework.

  • Make Owl available as a service and a wholly modular, stand-alone AI product.

2 - "Incubate" new AI Climate lab on a three-year plan

Gather, grow and support broad-based, community-derived team that will eventuallly 'run the whole show.'

  • Phase 1 -- kokomos tools and processes development. Through an openly educational process, kokomos teaches the generation of kokomos community-leaders to use Owl and other tools for AI-assisted knowledge-work.

  • Phase 2 -- From this 'cadre of leaders, kokomos will emerge as a strong, nonprofit community-service and an independent and social-benefit, knowledge-product business -- operated by Phase 1 community-leaders.

*kokomos ('koko8mos', 'kokohas') is a word-sound in Abenaki. It is associated with the word 'owl' in English. The Abenaki are indigenous 'people of the first light' who live in Ndakinna, an area that contains what is now Vermont, New Hampshire, Maine and southeastern Canada.
